Hi you! It’s nice to know that there are other moms like me looking to read some sort of blog post about someone like them. Well, let’s get right to it!

I am a mother in my early 30s trying to raise my beautiful little boy ‘A’ in this super nice but scary world- in the best way I know how.
I was 3 months old when I moved to Egypt. We lived there for nearly a little over a decade- before my parents decided to move back to our home country India. So, I went from going to an American school to an Indian school real quick. Obviously the move wasn’t easy- but hey I made it! After graduating from school – the explorer in me decided to go to China to study medicine! I know what you are thinking- believe me everyone thinks it too! But, I do love eating different cuisines, learning different languages and experiencing different cultures- so it looked like the right choice to make.

Once I graduated, I moved to a southern African country- Zambia! Again, the traveller in me and the need-to-help took me to volunteer in a couple of hospitals to that part of the hemisphere! Plus the added bonus of being able to witness the African savannah was the cherry on the top. Although, witnessing an epidemic of an infectious disease- really got to me- that I then moved to the UK to study a masters in Public Health. During the COVID pandemic- I also worked for the public health department of the NHS to help do my part. Now, obviously being an IMG (international medical graduate) in the UK meant I have to study for exams to be able to obtain my license and work in a clinical setting.

It is here that I met the most wonderful man and we got married. Now, we know how desi marriages can look like. You don’t just marry the individual- but you marry the whole family! So, by the time I was fully registered with my medical license and well settled in to the family- we got pregnant!

‘A’ was born a little over a year ago- and I will also be starting my hospital rounds soon! Hence, I figured this is the best time to begin a blog about my life raising ‘A’, figuring marriage as a parent, navigating desi family members, beginning my medical carrier from scratch (and you should know I was the MOST ambitious scholarship topper in my university days) and trying to do it all in the best way possible!
